Description

Chonluten is the synthetic tripeptide Glu-Asp-Gly (EDG), a St. Petersburg bioregulator that its developers assign to the bronchial mucosa, although the published experiments we could find used a rat gastric-ulcer model, immune cells and tissue explants rather than airway tissue. Pure Peptides Canada supplies it as a lyophilized research reagent in 20 mg vials, with an independent Janoshik HPLC and mass-spectrometry report, CAD pricing and tracked shipping from inside Canada.

Chonluten at a glance

  • What it is: L-glutamyl-L-aspartyl-glycine (EDG), a synthetic tripeptide from Vladimir Khavinson’s bioregulator programme.
  • What researchers study: inflammatory signalling in a human monocyte and macrophage cell line, antioxidant and inflammatory gene expression in a rat gastric-ulcer model, and growth of rat tissue explants.
  • Evidence level: a small number of cell, explant and rat studies, mostly from the developers’ group and its collaborators; we found no published airway-cell or lung study and no peer-reviewed controlled trial in people.
  • Supplied as: sealed lyophilized powder, 20 mg, single vial or box of 10.
  • Delivery: ships from inside Canada by tracked Xpresspost in 3–7 days ($25 CAD), or free in 4–12 days on orders over $299.

Published work comes mainly from the group that developed it. Chonluten is not an approved medicine.

What is Chonluten?

Chonluten is a three-residue peptide from the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Its developers list it with a net charge of −2 and a molecular weight of about 0.32 kDa (Khavinson et al., Biology Bulletin Reviews, 2013) and give its origin as respiratory (lung) tissue (Avolio et al., International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2022). A 2012 paper identifies it only by the code T-34; the group’s 2016 paper cites that work as a study of EDG.

In the catalogue, Chonluten’s closest relatives are defined by sequence rather than tissue. It belongs to the Glu-Asp set: Vesilute is the Glu-Asp dipeptide, and Pinealon (EDR), Ovagen (EDL) and Crystagen (EDP) differ from Chonluten only in the third residue. Its sequence is also the last three residues of Epithalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) and Testagen (Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly), so EDG, AEDG and KEDG form a natural set for asking what an extra N-terminal residue changes. Its airway partner, Bronchogen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu), shares only the Glu-Asp pair.

The airway label is the developers’ classification. We found no published experiment testing Chonluten in bronchial epithelial cells or in an animal lung model, and the group’s 2021 systematic review of peptide gene-regulation studies does not mention EDG (Khavinson et al., Molecules, 2021).

What published studies report

We could read four relevant reports, at least at abstract level. None used airway tissue.

  • Rat gastric ulcer (2012): the group reported that peptide T-34 normalized the synthesis of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory proteins in a gastric-ulcer model by regulating the corresponding genes (Khavinson et al., Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2012); its 2016 summary describes the model as induced peptic ulcer in rats and lists lower mRNA for superoxide dismutase, TNF-α and COX-2 (Khavinson et al., Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2016). A brief report in a stomach model; only the abstract is openly available.
  • Human monocytes and macrophages (2022): in the THP-1 human monocytic leukemia line, Chonluten and four other bioregulator preparations increased cell growth, and Chonluten was the only one linked to a moderate rise in apoptosis. In macrophage-like THP-1 cells stimulated with bacterial lipopolysaccharide, the peptides reduced TNF and IL-6 release; Chonluten also increased STAT1 phosphorylation and, like most of the peptides tested, reduced monocyte adhesion to activated endothelial cells (Avolio et al., International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2022). One cell line at one concentration, in vitro only, from an Italian–Russian collaboration.
  • Rat tissue explants (2022): in organotypic cultures of testis, cerebral cortex and bladder from young (2–3 months) and old (16–18 months) Wistar rats, EDG stimulated growth only in testis explants from young animals, whereas the tripeptides Ala-Glu-Asp and Glu-Asp-Arg acted more broadly (Chalisova et al., Molekulyarnaya Meditsina, 2022). No lung tissue was included.
  • DNA docking (2016): in the group’s computer docking of short peptides against DNA, EDG was predicted to bind the sequence TTTT only weakly, while Bronchogen was among the stronger binders (Khavinson et al., Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2016). A modelling result that the paper did not test experimentally.

What is not established

Whether Chonluten has any measurable effect on airway cells, whether the gastric-ulcer and THP-1 results hold up in other laboratories, and how a three-residue peptide would reach and regulate genes all remain open. The tissue assignment is the developers’ classification, and we found no airway experiment behind it.

Regulatory status: Chonluten is not an authorized drug in Canada. We sell it strictly as a laboratory reagent for in-vitro research.

Chonluten FAQ

Where can I buy Chonluten in Canada?

Pure Peptides Canada stocks Chonluten as a lyophilized research reagent in 20 mg vials and ships it from inside Canada by tracked Xpresspost in 3–7 days ($25 CAD), or free in 4–12 days on orders over $299.

What is the difference between Chonluten and Bronchogen?

Both are airway-associated bioregulators. Chonluten is the tripeptide Glu-Asp-Gly; Bronchogen is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu.

What has Chonluten been studied in?

A rat gastric-ulcer model, the THP-1 human monocyte and macrophage cell line, rat tissue explants and computer docking against DNA. We found no published study in airway cells or animal lung models, and no peer-reviewed controlled trial in people.

How is Chonluten related to Epithalon and Testagen?

Its sequence, Glu-Asp-Gly, forms the last three residues of both. Epithalon adds an N-terminal alanine (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) and Testagen an N-terminal lysine (Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly).

Can Chonluten be used in people or animals?

No. This product is for in-vitro laboratory research only and is not a drug, supplement or food. We do not provide dosing or administration information.
